Holy Eucharist and Supper at Brent House
Our principal weekly worship followed by a free vegetarian supper

Wednesdays, noon-4 pm
Afternoon Tea at Brent House
The house is open for studying, chatting, knitting, eating. Lunch often provided; beverages and cookies always provided!

Wednesdays, 6:30 pm
"Brentsday" Evenings at Brent House
Join us for supper, community and conversation on a variety of topics. (See below for what we already have planned!)

Thursdays, noon
Holy Eucharist at Bond Chapel
A brief informal service; grab lunch with us afterwards.

Sunday, March 30, 5:30 pm:  Holy Eucharist with supper

We begin the quarter with a celebration of the Resurrection, followed by a home-cooked meal.

April

Wednesday, April 2, 12-1 pm: Listening Post

The U of C campus ministers table at the Reynolds Club each Wednesday from noon to 1 pm.  Today, Stacy will be there, so stop by and say hi!

Wednesday, April 2, 12-4 pm: Afternoon Tea

A weekly break with tea (and other beverages).  Every Wednesday through Finals week.

6:30 pm:  Spirituality on Campus:  A Conversation

What does it mean to be spiritual at the University of Chicago?  What are the challenges?  Does this campus seem surprisingly religious? Suprisingly non-religious? We'll talk about spiritual life on campus coming from a deeply religious background and from a deeply secular background.  Supper provided.  RSVP to office@brenthouse.org or 773-947-8744.   Co-hosted by Brent House and Interfaith Dialogue

Friday-Saturday, April 4-6:  Province V Gathering:  How Can I Understand Unless Someone Helps Me?

A gathering of young adults from our Province at beautiful Turkey Run State Park, Indiana.

Wednesday, April 9, 6:30 pm:  Bible Study' s Not So Scary

We know that Bible study is important for Christian discipleship, but it can seem intimidating, confusing or fraught with fundamentalist pitfalls.  Come and learn that you donŐt have to check your brain at the door to engage Scripture as a form of spiritual growth.

Tuesday, April 15, 7 pm:  Called to Common Mission Graduate Sherry Hour

A chance for Lutherans and Episcopalians to enjoy light refreshments and beverages, alcoholic and non.

Wednesday, April 19, 12-1 pm: Diocesan Ministry Day

A chance to deepen your understanding of the Church and your own journey, held at LSTC.  Talk to Stacy about registration.

Wednesday, April 23, 6:00 pm:  Two Ministry Presentations:  When the Church Talks Politics and When Politics Talks the Church

Dan Puchalla and Fern Turner will present their ministry projects.  At 6 pm, Dan will present his project, "The Crosier and the Sword: A Theological Critique of the Episcopal Church's Political Activism and Recommendations for Alternative Practices."  At 7:15 pm, Fern will discuss "When a Moral Man Leads an Immoral Society: Reinhold Niebuhr's Christian realism and the presidency of Jimmy Carter."  Supper will be provided at 5:30 pm.

Tuesday, April 29, 5:00 pm:  Ministry Project:  Standing on the Threshold: The Minister as Guest and Host

Edmund Harris will share insights on ministry as a form of hospitality from his senior ministry project at the Divinity School.   Conversation and refreshments will follow.

Wednesday, April 30, 6:30 pm:  Brentsday Movie Night: The West Wing

Join us for supper and an evening of the best religiously-themed West Wing episodes (including, of course Two Cathedrals). (If you'd like to influence episode or scene choices, contact Sarah Staudt.)

Thursday, May 1, noon:  Feast of the Ascension

A celebration of Christ's Ascension at our noon service in Bond Chapel.

Friday, May 2, 5 pm:   Field Trip to the Keiskamma Altarpiece

FOBH (Friend of Brent House) Cathe McEnerney will walk us through the wonders of this inspirational piece of art and theology. We'll leave Brent House at 5 pm. RSVP to office@brenthouse.org, 773-947-8744 or the Facebook Event "Keiskamma Altarpiece.".

Scav Hunt starts at midnight tonight. Here's your last chance until Sunday to get some schoolwork done! Supper and free wireless provided.

Tuesday, May 13, 6-8 pm:  Dinner and Conversation:  Hinduism:  an Alternative History

Wendy Doniger, an internationally known scholar of Hinduism and professor at the Div School, will talk about her upcoming book, Hinduism: An Alternative History.  Supper provided.

Wednessday, May 14, 6:30 pm:  Brentsday: Religion on Campus

Another opportunity to talk about what it means to be religious at of U of C.

Tuesday, May 20:  Labyrinth Walk

Our spring laybyrinth walk provides a time of prayer, meditation and peace.  All day, with our trademark cookies in the center.

Wednessday, May 14, 6:30 pm:  Brentsday: Sex and the Altar

Another opportunity to talk about faithful sexuality for Christians.

Wednesday, May 28, 6 pm:  Episcopal Visitation

The Rt. Rev. Jeff Lee will make his first official visit to Brent House.  Join us for Evening Prayer, followed by supper and conversation with the bishop.  The traditional field trip to Jimmy's with the bishop may close the evening—watch for updates.

June

Wednesday, June 4, 6:30 pm:  Brentsday: Study or Movie Night

Do you need to study or do you need a break? We'll decide closer to the date. Supper and free wireless provided.

Sunday, June 8:  Open House

Current students, alumi/ae, faculty, staff and friends are invited to join us for an Open House.  Reconnect with old friends, meet new ones and see first hand the exciting work that we do together!
