For nearly a century, Brent House has offered a space where questions of faith may be asked, doubts freely expressed, and religious practice can be, well, practiced. We show how faith can both be silent and introspective, communal and ritualized, debated fiercely, boisterous and full of food. By making a bequest to Brent House, you can join with supporters over its history to help sustain and grow this vital ministry. You can support Brent House in your estate planning through specific bequests or through designating Brent House as a beneficiary of all or part of life insurance or retirement accounts. We are called to arrange for the disposal of our temporal goods. We hope you will consider Brent House as part of your estate planning.
Specific This designates a specific amount or percentage of your estate or property to be left to Brent House. “I give, devise and bequeath (_____% or $_____ or specifically designated asset) for the benefit of Brent House, the Episcopal Center at the University of Chicago, 5540 South Woodlawn Ave., Chicago, IL 60637, FEIN 36-2332042, to be used for its general purposes.”
Residuary. This designates all or a portion of what remains in your estate after all expenses, debts and taxes have been paid and all general and specific bequests have been honored. “All the rest, residue and remainder of my estate, both real and personal, I give to Brent House, the Episcopal Center at the University of Chicago, 5540 South Woodlawn Ave., Chicago, IL 60637, FEIN 36-2332042, for its general purposes.”
Contingency. This designates all or a portion of your estate if your named beneficiary does not survive you. “If [beneficiary name] does not survive me, I devise and bequeath my residuary estate to Brent House, the Episcopal Center at the University of Chicago, 5540 South Woodlawn Ave., Chicago, IL 60637, FEIN 36-2332042, for its general purposes.”
